Treating Co-Occurring Disorders

SMEDA and Castlewood hosted a half-day of networking and education, Treating Co-Occurring Disorders: Clients with Eating Disorders and Substance Use Disorders. Alexandra Baugh, LPC, NCC and Amaris Roye, LCSW will present on the topic of treating the eating disorder client suffering with co-occurring substance abuse disorder--and vice versa. The presentation included how to:

  • Apply and integrate a variety of counseling techniques to assist clients with exploring and processing their cooccurring substance use disorders and eating disorders

  • Incorporate interventions into client’s treatment plans aimed to increase self-awareness

  • Instill insight into the function of the client's eating disorder and substance abuse symptoms and behaviors

  • A showing and discussion of the movie, To the Bone.
